Just don’t get Dodge started about fishing . . .
You don’t succeed as an agency’s creative director, owner and partner for
23 years without having tasted every pitch since Eve asked Adam to "take a bite."
Dodge (yes, he likes being called by his last name) knows how to stay ahead of
the curve. For example, he was the first to use Claymation in a television commercial.
When he formed DSi with Stephanie Schmitgall in 1995, he ensured that their shop
had in-house Web expertise.
Dodge’s achievements are as varied as the flies he uses to tease trout in
an Oregon stream: each colorful and captivating. While Dodge can show you the
assorted awards he’s garnered over the years æ the Clios, Addies, Tellies, Spikes,
Rosies, etc. æ it’s the CAMPAIGNS that light him up. Large campaigns, challenging
campaigns, campaigns that caught the wind of the public’s conscience and brought
about real change.
A personal favorite was creating a campaign for an upscale fishing lodge in
Alaska; a place where the salmon practically leap out into. . . please, don’t
get him started.
The last thing you think of when you meet this woman of considerable grace,
talent and charm, is dumpster diving. However, once upon a time, a client’s photo
shoot required an entire fish, but the one on hand was … well, headless. Not to
be deterred, she hopped into a fish market dumpster and rummaged about until emerging
victorious with her odiferous, lopped-off prize.
It’s part and parcel of the enthusiasm and commitment Schmitgall brings to
DSi’s account management. Strategic planning, marketing, budgets and research
she does what it takes to make each client’s campaign as successful as it can
be.
Midwest raised and Oregon educated, Stephanie brings a work ethic and flair
for communications that garners results. She helped open Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse
Square and the American Advertising Museum, helped devise ways to help boost public
transit ridership, and bring about positive change to the community. In every
endeavor, she conducts herself with dignity and class.
Of course there was that time she had to jog down the street wearing a pink
bunny costume . . .
As the latest key member of the DSi team, Tracy represents the flex in the
firm’s on-line strength. He not only knows how to bring a web site to life, he
also understands how to decipher the ever-growing mystery of electronic commerce.
Since 1995, he’s been sharpening his skills by building web sites for a variety
of clients, as well as building his resume in video editing and web design/production.
He also earned a degree in marketing from Arizona State University.
When he’s not lifting weights and crafting electronic concoctions for DSi,
he donates his skills to the Green
House Network, a grass-roots organization dedicated to stopping global warming.
